Quick answer: Cartons of 10–70 kg on packaging lines are best lifted with a vacuum tube lifter (FULLSHARP or ANVER): it grips the top of the box and lifts and lowers with one hand at 4–8 boxes per minute. Light boxes up to 25 kg can use a pneumatic vacuum pad on a pneumatic jib crane. Very heavy boxes, soft boxes or weak lids call for a carton clamp tool that grips both sides of the box.

Why use lift assist for carton boxes?

At the end of a packaging line, operators stack boxes from conveyors onto pallets thousands of times per day. A 15–30 kg box does not look heavy, but the repeated bend–lift–twist movement is a leading cause of back, shoulder and wrist pain. Lift-assist equipment keeps operators upright, reduces fatigue and keeps output steady across the shift.

Vacuum tube lifters: FULLSHARP and ANVER

A vacuum tube lifter grips and lifts: squeeze the handle to contract the tube and lift, release to lower. The box feels weightless and the operator simply guides it. FullSharp supplies FULLSHARP vacuum tube lifters of its own design and ANVER ergonomic lifters (USA), plus Lifts All for light boxes, sacks and bottles. See vacuum tube lifters.

Ergonomic handles and suction feet

  • Single handle: one-hand operation and high speed for small and medium boxes.
  • Double handle: two-hand control for large, long or heavy boxes.
  • Long side handle: reaches the bottom pallet layer without bending.
  • Side-suction foot: grips the side wall when the top has tape, open flaps or boxes are packed tightly.
  • Multi-pad quick-change foot: switch between cartons, sacks and plastic crates in seconds.

Handles have speed control and release buttons at elbow height so the wrist stays straight. Combined with a jib crane or low-friction aluminium rail, the horizontal push force is only a few kilograms.

Light boxes under 25 kg: pneumatic vacuum pad

For light boxes, FullSharp uses a pneumatic vacuum pad on a pneumatic jib crane: no electric pump, compact, durable and lower cost than a vacuum tube lifter. Ideal where compressed air is available and cycle rates are moderate.

Very heavy boxes: carton clamp tool

Boxes with metal parts over 70 kg, soft boxes or lids too weak to vacuum lift are handled with a carton clamp tool: two air-cylinder jaws grip both side walls and can support the base. The tool hangs from a 500 kg jib crane or rail with a pneumatic or electric hoist.

How to choose carton lifting equipment

  • Maximum box weight and L x W x H
  • Whether the top is closed, taped or open
  • Boxes per hour and number of pallet layers
  • Conveyor and pallet positions and ceiling space – jib crane, rail or mobile base
  • Compressed air available or electricity only

Frequently asked questions

How much can a carton vacuum lifter lift?

Vacuum tube lifters typically handle 10–70 kg; pneumatic vacuum pads up to 25 kg; clamp tools for heavier boxes.

Can taped or open boxes be vacuum lifted?

Use an offset or side-suction foot; if the lid is weak, switch to a clamp tool.

Can recycled or thin cartons be lifted?

Yes, with a larger foot and a high-flow pump to compensate for air leaking through the board.

Can one lifter handle both boxes and sacks?

Yes, with quick-change feet. Many FullSharp projects share one lifter for cartons and raw material sacks.

FULLSHARP or ANVER?

Both are vacuum tube lifters; FullSharp assesses load, cycle rate and budget to recommend one, and services both on site.

Send FullSharp the box dimensions and weight, boxes per hour and photos of your packing area. We will survey and propose the right lift-assist solution.
