Discharging material into a mixing tank required workers to lift the drum high and tilt it by hand. This posture is both strenuous and unstable, material easily spills, and standing close to the tank opening exposes workers to dust. Doing many batches per shift compounds the risk.

FullSharp installed a pneumatic manipulator for the material discharge step. The equipment lifts the drum to exactly the tank opening's height and holds it there, while the tilting motion is handled by the mechanism. The operator only controls it via the handle, no longer carrying the drum, and can stand back from the dust zone.

Equipment Installed

  • Pneumatic manipulator body: an air cylinder carries the drum's weight, raised and lowered with very light hand force and stopping at any height.
  • Discharge tilting mechanism: tilts the drum under control so material flows evenly into the tank without splashing.
  • Drum-holding clamp: wraps securely around the drum body so it doesn't slip while being lifted and tilted.
  • Control handle: raise, lower, and tilt buttons are all on the handle so the operator can stand back from the tank opening.
