Pneumatic Jib Crane for Round Metal Blocks

Round metal blocks are heavy and slippery, giving hands no grip point, while slinging them with cables lets the workpiece spin while suspended. The machining location also changes with each order, so a fixed crane does not fit.

FullSharp built a pneumatic jib crane on a mobile base, with a height-adjustable column and a clamp tool gripping the round metal block. Wherever the workshop needs to lift, the unit is wheeled there, and the clamp grips both sides so the workpiece stays steady while being moved.

Equipment Installed

Mobile base: a base frame with wheels and outriggers, moved to the lifting location then locked in place.
Adjustable column: changes the arm height to match the machine and the workpiece height.
Pneumatic swing arm: raises and lowers using air, swinging gently to position the workpiece precisely at the fixture.
Round metal block clamp tool: jaws that wrap around the workpiece's curved surface, with an air cylinder holding steady clamping force.
