The customer's order-picking area requires constant carrying of carton boxes from pallets onto the conveyor. The boxes are bulky, so workers must carry them with both arms, risking slips and crushed corners. The work position also changes with each batch, so a fixed column is not practical.
FullSharp installed an articulating jib crane on a mobile base, which can be wheeled to wherever picking is taking place. The multi-jointed arm carries a vacuum lifting pad that grips the box surface, and the worker simply guides the direction while the box follows. Suction and release are one-handed, with no need to carry the load.
A mobile-base articulating jib crane fitted with a vacuum lifting pad, used to handle carton boxes in the order-picking area.
The mobile base lets the whole system move to wherever work is happening, with no floor construction or structural relocation.
Suction force spreads evenly across the flat surface, so carton boxes don't deform the way they do when clamped on the sides.
The load rests on the arm while the worker only guides direction, easing strain on shoulders and back during continuous picking.
FullSharp visits the site to measure box dimensions and weight, stacking height, and carton surface to select the right lifting pad. Our engineers also check floor flatness and aisle width to size the mobile base. Contact FullSharp to schedule a site survey.
