The airshaft inside a paper, fabric, or plastic film roll is usually heavy and long. Pulling it out by hand takes two or three people to hold it steady, the shaft easily runs off-center and scratches the core, and every roll change stops the machine for a long time.
FullSharp installed an articulating manipulator fitted with a clamp head made specifically for the airshaft. The equipment keeps the shaft centered, so the operator only needs a light push to pull the shaft out of the roll core and move it onto the waiting rack.
A manipulator with an airshaft clamp head pulling the shaft out of a material roll core.
Removing and fitting the shaft in one smooth motion means less machine downtime.
The shaft doesn't sag or rub against the core, so both roll and shaft last longer.
No more two or three people wrestling a heavy shaft in a tight space.
FullSharp measures the airshaft's diameter and weight, and the clearance around the machine, to work out the manipulator's reach. The clamp head is designed to match the exact shaft you use, and after installation we walk your production crew through the shaft-removal procedure.
