A finished roll fresh off the machine is still sitting on the air shaft, and pulling it off means lifting the roll while the shaft hangs suspended. Done by hand, the roll drops onto the floor, its edges get crushed and the outer layer gets scratched.

FullSharp installs a manipulator with a cradle head that hugs the inside of the roll. The unit keeps the roll balanced as the shaft's air is released, so the operator only needs a gentle pull to slide the roll off the shaft and onto a cart or storage rack.

Manipulator for Pulling Rolls off Air Shafts

Manipulator supporting a finished roll as it's pulled off an air shaft.

Equipment installed

  • Manipulator body: offsets the roll's weight so it hangs freely, with the operator's arm only guiding direction.
  • Roll core cradle head: slides into the roll core then expands to grip it firmly, without pressing on the outer material layer.
  • In-and-out mechanism: pulls the roll off along the shaft's exact centerline, preventing scraping between the core and the shaft body.
  • Control handle: raise, lower, grip and release buttons on a single handle, so the operator never looks away from the roll.

Benefits for the plant

No damaged edges

The roll always stays suspended during removal, never dropping onto the floor.

Protects the air shaft

Pulling on-center means the shaft body and internal air valves never take an impact.

Faster roll changes

One operator completes the whole task, so the machine restarts sooner.

FullSharp asks for the core diameter, outer diameter and full roll weight to select the right cradle head. We install the manipulator right beside the machine, run several test roll changes, then hand it over to your operators.
