An air balancer (pneumatic balancer) is a compressed-air lifting device that carries the load on a steel wire rope. The operator lifts and lowers with a pneumatic push-button handle or pulls and pushes the load directly by hand; the speed follows how hard the button is pressed or how hard the hand pulls, so operation is very fast and agile.
The standard FullSharp air balancer has a maximum capacity of 100 kg, a 10 mm steel wire rope and a 2 m stroke, and runs on 6–7 bar compressed air with no electricity. It is lightest and fastest with loads of about 20–50 kg.
The key difference is speed and repetition. An air balancer moves quickly according to button pressure or hand force and can run continuously all day on lines that need fast lifting and lowering. Electric hoists are not suited to this duty: starting and stopping the motor for hours tends to overheat it. Electric hoists and air hoists fit loads above 100 kg with a moderate number of lifts.
Because it uses no electricity, an air balancer also suits explosion-proof areas. At the top end, a servo balancing hoist lifts smoothly from 20 to 750 kg, with float mode and many functions.
| Criteria | Air balancer | Air hoist | Electric hoist | Servo balancing hoist |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Power | 6–7 bar compressed air | 6–7 bar compressed air | 220 V single-phase or 380 V three-phase | 220 V single-phase or 380 V three-phase |
| Best load range | 20–50 kg, light and fast | Above 100 kg | Above 100 kg | 20–750 kg, smooth at any load |
| Speed | Very fast, follows button pressure or hand force | Push-button control | Fixed or stepped | Smooth, stepless |
| Continuous all-day cycling | Excellent | Good | Not suitable, overheats | Good |
| Explosion-proof areas | Suitable, no electricity | Suitable | Requires a special custom explosion-proof model at a higher price | Requires a special custom explosion-proof model at a higher price |
| Functions | Fast, agile lifting | Heavy lifting | Heavy lifting | Float mode, precise positioning, multiple modes |
An air balancer works best on lines that need fast lifting, fast lowering and continuous repetition all day. Typical cases where FullSharp recommends one:
For loads above 100 kg, choose an electric hoist or an air hoist. For smooth lifting of both light and heavy loads up to 750 kg with float mode and precise positioning, choose a servo balancing hoist.
An air balancer only handles vertical lifting, so it needs a structure for horizontal travel. Two common setups in FullSharp projects:
Tooling drives productivity: hooks, pneumatic clamps shaped to the product, round-bar clamps, crate hooks or pneumatic vacuum pads for cartons. When parts must be rotated, tilted or carried off-center, consider a manipulator with a rigid arm instead of a wire rope.
An air balancer is a compressed-air lifting device with a steel wire rope; its speed follows button pressure or hand force, making it ideal for lines that lift and lower fast and repeat all day. It needs no electricity and is usually mounted on a jib crane or rail.
An air balancer is very fast and agile, runs continuously all day and suits 20–50 kg loads. An electric hoist fits loads above 100 kg but is not suited to non-stop cycling because the motor overheats.
Yes. An air balancer runs entirely on compressed air with no electricity, so it suits areas that require explosion protection.
The standard FullSharp unit has a maximum capacity of 100 kg and a 2 m stroke, and is lightest and fastest with 20–50 kg loads. Loads above 100 kg should use an electric hoist or an air hoist.
When you need smooth lifting across loads from 20 to 750 kg, float mode, precise positioning and more functions, or when the plant has no compressed air.
