FullSharp installed a pneumatic jib crane with a vacuum lifting pad built for flat sheets of glass, metal and industrial wood. The operator sets the pad on the sheet, opens the valve to grip it, and swings the arm to the next machine, while compressed air carries the weight and rubber cups protect a surface that one scratch could ruin.

Large flat sheets are heavy and slippery, and even two or three people carrying one can still bump the edges. A single scratch on glass or metal surfaces can send the piece to reject. Clamping by hand often leaves marks at the edges.

FullSharp installs a pneumatic jib crane fitted with a vacuum lifting pad built specifically for flat sheets. Place the pad on the sheet, open the valve and it grips, lift it up, then swing the arm to move the sheet to the next machine. The compressed air carries the lifting force while the operator only guides the direction.

Pneumatic Jib Crane with Vacuum Lifting Pad for Sheet Materials

Pneumatic jib crane with a vacuum lifting pad lifting a flat sheet material in the plant.

Equipment installed

  • Load-bearing rotating column: swings the arm through multiple angles, moving the sheet from the storage rack to the machine table.
  • Pneumatic lifting assembly: lifts and lowers smoothly, holding the sheet suspended so the operator can position it before setting it down.
  • Vacuum lifting pad for sheets: multiple suction cups spread across the frame, gripping glass, metal, or wood surfaces.
  • Control handle: mounted right next to the pad, letting one person hold and control the lift at the same time.

Benefits for the plant

No surface scratches

Rubber suction cups press against the surface instead of clamping the edges, keeping the sheet's quality intact.

Single-operator use

Compressed air carries the load, leaving the operator to simply push and guide the direction.

Lower collision risk

The sheet stays gripped firmly throughout the move, cutting the chance of dropping or breaking it during manual handling.

  • Warehouses storing large sheet materials

Frequently asked questions

How do you lift glass or metal sheets without scratching them?

Rubber suction cups press against the face of the sheet instead of clamping the edges, so there are no clamp marks. The sheet stays gripped through the move, cutting the risk of dropping or breaking it.

Can one vacuum pad handle different sheet materials?

This pad has several cups spread across a frame and grips glass, metal or wood with smooth, non-porous surfaces. FullSharp checks sheet size, weight and surface before setting the cup layout.

How many people are needed to move a large sheet?

One. Compressed air carries the load and the control handle sits next to the pad, so a single operator holds and steers the sheet, where two or three people used to carry it.

FullSharp measures the sheet size, weighs it, and checks whether the surface is glass, metal, or wood to select the suction cup type. We then calculate the arm's reach based on the distance between the storage rack and the machine. Contact FullSharp to schedule a survey.
