A complete car wheel weighs 20 to 40kg, and truck and industrial tires are much heavier. On an assembly line, workers lift the wheel, hold it centered and tighten the bolts hundreds of times per shift. This station has the highest rate of shoulder and back injuries in an automotive plant.

FullSharp supplies lift assist manipulators with concentric wheel grippers that hold the tire in a weightless state and tilt it to the mounting angle. The equipment has been installed on the lines of many automotive and tire plants in Taiwan, Vietnam and Australia, and is built to automotive industry safety standards.

FullSharp equipment for lifting wheels

  • Pneumatic manipulator with tire gripper: concentric jaws hold the tire at three points, pneumatic load balancing, and 90 degree rotation to fit the tire onto the hub. See pneumatic manipulators.
  • Articulated electric manipulator: long reach, follows the vehicle along the conveyor and mounts wheels while the car is moving. See Articulated electric manipulator.
  • Pneumatic jib crane with tire tilting tool: tilts truck tires and heavy industrial tires for inspection, retreading or rim mounting. See Pneumatic jib crane.
  • Overhead rail and air balancer: carries tire grippers in tire warehouses and service stations. See overhead rail systems and FullSharp air balancer.

Benefits of wheel handling equipment

Centered on the first try

Concentric jaws keep the tire aligned with the hub, so bolts are tightened quickly and the rim is not scratched.

Keeps pace with the line

The grip, lift and mount cycle takes under 30 seconds, matching the takt time of an assembly line.

No shoulder or back injuries

The equipment carries the full weight of the wheel; the operator only guides it and tightens the bolts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can one gripper handle several tire sizes?

Yes, the jaws adjust for tires from 15 to 22 inches. Truck and industrial tires use dedicated grippers sized to their diameter.

Can a nutrunner be integrated?

Yes. FullSharp integrates multi-spindle nutrunners onto the manipulator according to line requirements.

How long do design and installation take?

Standard equipment ships in 4 to 6 weeks. Custom grippers need extra time for assessment and testing at the FullSharp factory in Taiwan.

Wheel and tire handling consultation

Every plant differs in load, part size, handling frequency and working space. FullSharp carries out a site survey, recommends suitable equipment, load-tests it before handover and trains your operators. The equipment is built at the FullSharp factory in Taiwan, with spare parts and warranty service available in Vietnam.
