A complete car wheel weighs 20 to 40kg, and truck and industrial tires are much heavier. On an assembly line, workers lift the wheel, hold it centered and tighten the bolts hundreds of times per shift. This station has the highest rate of shoulder and back injuries in an automotive plant.

FullSharp supplies lift assist manipulators with concentric wheel grippers that hold the tire in a weightless state and tilt it to the mounting angle. FullSharp equipment for lifting wheels

  • Pneumatic manipulator with tire gripper: concentric jaws hold the tire at three points, pneumatic load balancing, and 90 degree rotation to fit the tire onto the hub. See pneumatic manipulators.
  • Articulated electric manipulator: long reach, follows the vehicle along the conveyor and mounts wheels while the car is moving. See Articulated electric manipulator.

Can one gripper handle several tire sizes?

Yes, the jaws adjust for tires from 15 to 22 inches. Truck and industrial tires use dedicated grippers sized to their diameter.

Can a nutrunner be integrated?

Yes. FullSharp integrates multi-spindle nutrunners onto the manipulator according to line requirements.

How long do design and installation take?

Standard equipment ships in 4 to 6 weeks. Custom grippers need extra time for assessment and testing at the FullSharp factory in Taiwan.
