Steel plates are smooth, heavy, and sharp-edged — even two or three workers carrying one together can lose their grip and scratch the surface. Hooking a cable takes time to thread and often warps the plate when it's lifted.

FullSharp installs a pneumatic jib crane with a vacuum lifting pad: set the suction frame onto the plate, it grips firmly, then lifts it straight up. The arm rotates to swing the plate over to the machine table, and one operator is enough without ever touching the plate's edge.

Pneumatic Jib Crane with Vacuum Lifting Pad for Steel Plates

Vacuum lifting pad mounted on a pneumatic jib crane, used to lift steel plates at a machine shop.

Installed Equipment

  • Vacuum lifting pad: a suction pad frame arranged to fit the plate size, with the suction force spread evenly so the plate doesn't sag.
  • Pneumatic vacuum generator unit: runs on the existing compressed air supply, with a vacuum-holding valve for when pressure drops.
  • Pneumatic jib crane: a pneumatic hoist lifts smoothly, with the arm rotating to move the plate between two positions.
  • Gauge and alarm: monitors vacuum level and alerts when pressure falls below a safe threshold.

Benefits for Your Plant

No cable threading

Just set the suction pad onto the plate to lift it, cutting the time needed for each plate transfer.

No surface scratches

The soft suction cushion contacts the plate surface without leaving marks like a hook clamp would.

Fewer workers needed

One operator replaces a carrying crew, avoiding contact with the plate's sharp edges.

Installation Consulting for Your Plant

FullSharp takes the largest plate size, thickness, and weight to calculate the number of suction pads and the safety factor. Our technicians also check whether the plate surface has oil or rust, since it affects suction force. Contact FullSharp to schedule a plant survey.
