The Knight tandem balancer series is built primarily for loads above 700 lbs [318 kg]. The tandem construction reaches the same capacity as a reeved balancer while keeping the long stroke of a standard single unit – there is no pulley block halving the lift height.
The chain version uses a special grade 80 load chain with a proprietary surface treatment that extends chain life by up to 300% compared with standard grade 80 chain.
Size the working load at 80% of the rated capacity to allow for normal fluctuation in the plant air system. Units are rated at 100 psi [6.8 bar].
Tandem – Full Stroke
Two cylinders work in series inside one unit, so capacity rises to 1,400 lbs [635 kg] with no loss of stroke – up to 80 in [2,032 mm]. Choose tandem when the part has to travel a long vertical distance.
Reeved – Half Stroke
A pulley block doubles the capacity to the same 1,400 lbs, but the load rises only half as far as the cable travels – 26 to 55 in [685 to 1,397 mm]. Choose reeved when headroom is tight and lift height is modest.
