KBA & KBC Single Pneumatic Balancer Series
Series: KBA (Cable) / KBC (Chain)
Knight single pneumatic balancers are used where the application calls for a float mode – letting the operator make the final placement of the load hands-free. Raising and lowering is faster than a conventional hoist, and the load can be “feathered” into position. The ergonomic control handle uses a colour-coded thumb lever.
When selecting a pneumatic balancer, the working load should be sized at 80% of the rated capacity to allow for normal fluctuation in the plant air system. The working load includes both the part and the end effector holding it. Balancers are rated at a supply pressure of 100 psi [6.8 bar].
Worked example: plant air at 60 psi, a 350 lbs model, 80% factor → (0.60 × 350) × 0.80 = 168 lbs of actual working capacity.

KBA – Cable
Uses high quality stainless steel wire rope. The cable version gives the longest stroke in the range – up to 110 in [2,794 mm] – and a lighter unit weight for the same capacity. Lubricate periodically with Lubriplate® 1241 or equivalent to extend cable life.
KBC – Chain
Uses a dedicated grade 80 load chain. The chain version is more tolerant of a dirty or abrasive environment and of side loading. Lubricate periodically with SAE 50–90 EP motor or gear oil, or equivalent.
