The Knight KSHTC Twin Chain and KSHTCDM Dual Motor hoists are Intelligent Assist Devices (IAD) that let the operator position or balance a load precisely along the “Z” axis (vertical) with high speed and reliability. The design suits awkward or long parts that need to be kept under control.

Both ranges include the “SDS” (Safety Drop Stop) feature. On the KSHTC, the two chains are mechanically linked and run as a single unit. On the KSHTCDM, each motor is electronically synchronised, with the option of an LMM module with OCI or LMM with pass-through.

Knight’s servo technology lets the operator simply grip the handle and move the load, with no buttons to press, improving accuracy, responsiveness, repeatability, safety and throughput. The inherent benefits include eliminating wasted motion, shortening reaction time, and reducing inertia effects with heavy loads.

Configuration Options

KSHTC / KSHTCDM Servo Hoists

Selecting a Knight servo control system means settling a number of points before the configuration can be fixed. Contact the FULLSHARP VN engineering team for help identifying the right configuration for your application.

Working Through the Application

  1. System configuration – the KSHTC / KSHTCDM range comes with either an integrated handle or a remote handle. Choose one or the other.
  2. Lifting capacity – include the weight of the fixture and the part when sizing the hoist.
  3. System type – SDS (safety chain plus load chain).
  4. Coiled cable length:
    • Establish the suspension point from the underside of the rail to the load hook point (up to 4 ft depending on configuration).
    • Establish the pick and place heights – these determine the rail height directly.
    • Use an application drawing to calculate the stack-up.
  5. Trolley – establish the suspension point (it must not be a single point) and select the matching trolley.
  6. Up/down control setup:
    • Integrated handle: can the operator still reach it when the load is at its highest position?
    • Make sure any additional cables are accounted for (LMM to OCI, handle to OCI).
  7. Power supply – the servo runs on 230 VAC single phase. If the plant only has 480 VAC, a 480/240 VAC transformer is required.
