Description
BAE10 SERIES BATTERY POWERED VAC-PACK VACUUM STATIONS
A 12 VDC rotary vane vacuum station for heavy production lifting – no plant air, no trailing power cord
Product Overview
The BAE10 Vac-Pack handles non-porous through to porous loads and is designed to work with a wide range of lifter assemblies. It is built for heavy production use and can be supplied either mounted on a heavy duty lifting frame or as a stand-alone vacuum station.
Power comes from two on-board deep-cycle batteries driving a 17 CFM rotary vane pump, so the lifter needs neither a compressed air line nor a mains cable at the point of work – the whole station travels with the load.
Two operator control styles are available: a three-button radio control transmitter, or a plug-in pendant on a coiled cord. Both cover attach, release and safety interlock.
Why battery power – an air powered station needs a compressor and hose reach; an electric station needs a mains outlet. The BAE10 needs neither, so it suits mobile lifting frames, outdoor yards and long travel cranes where running services to the lifter is the real obstacle. The Vacuum Control Module cycles the pump on and off at the set vacuum level, which extends both pump life and battery charge.
Safety Features
Vacuum Control Module
A solid-state module combines all vacuum generator controls in one rugged unit – it manages every pump function, drives the safety lights, and carries the standard audible vacuum leakage warning system.
Audible leakage warning
An electronically controlled sensor monitors the vacuum level continuously and sounds an alarm if a slow leak drops the vacuum to a pre-set point – before the level becomes unsafe.
Vacuum retention
An internal check valve stops loss of vacuum in the event of a power failure (non-porous loads). A 30 gallon [6,939 cu. in.] vacuum reservoir is recommended: it holds a safe level through a power failure, and buys a longer safe window to set the load down on the ground if a slow leak is detected.
Derating – standard lifting frames, vacuum pads and pad attachments require the lifting capacity to be derated by 6.25% when used with this Vac-Pack.
Operator Controls
Choose the control style to suit the application. Both kits cover attach, release and safety interlock.
Radio control is worth specifying where the operator needs to walk clear of the load; the pendant is the simpler and lower cost option where the operator stays at the lifter.
Additional Features
Front control panel and gauges
All gauges, lights and power switches sit on the front of the control panel. Two vacuum gauges show the level in the manifold and in the reservoir separately.
Indicator lights
On the front enclosure plus left and right auxiliary positions: green = safe vacuum level, red = unsafe vacuum level, white = power on.
Battery charger maintainer
CHARGER-BAE10, sold separately. Integrated two-bank 20 amp charger (10 amps per bank) charges both batteries at once, designed for high performance deep-cycle lead-acid batteries. Flush-mounted straight blade plug takes a standard extension cord from a 110 V AC outlet; two battery cables with plugs make connection and disconnection easy.
Maintenance access
Electrical enclosure door
Every generator is supplied with a hinged electrical enclosure door for direct access to the electrical components.
Moisture trap / air filters
Two over-sized screw-on clear filter bowls, mounted outside the electrical enclosure so they can be inspected and cleaned without opening it.
Removable battery case cover
Standard battery case with strap and cover gives easy access to the battery, which sits on a rugged mounting bracket bolted directly to the Vac-Pack.
Battery cable plugs
Plug connections allow the battery to be connected and disconnected quickly during maintenance or replacement.
Vacuum pump – PMP-17-12V
17 CFM rotary vane pump driven by a 1 h.p. 12 volt D.C. motor, generating 24 in. Hg at sea level. The Vacuum Control Module cycles the motor on and off to hold a safe level, extending pump life and battery charge.
Battery specification
BAE10-17: two deep-cycle batteries, 105 Amp hour at the 20 hour rate (110 A.H. at the 100 hour rate), giving continuous operation in many applications.

Handling and Installation
At 550 lb [250 kg] the Vac-Pack is not a portable unit, so fork pockets are built into the base – the station is lifted and repositioned with an ordinary forklift, whether it is being mounted onto a lifting frame or moved between work cells as a stand-alone station.
Mounting is through the 0.75 in. [19 mm] holes on the E and F centres shown on the dimensional drawing.
Battery, Air or Electric?
Choose the BAE10 battery Vac-Pack when…
- There is neither compressed air nor a mains outlet at the point of work, or the lifter travels too far to trail either
- The application is heavy production and needs 17 CFM to keep up
- Loads run from non-porous through to porous
- The lifter can carry 550 lb [250 kg] of station and the crane capacity allows for it
Choose an air or electric station when…
- Compressed air or single-phase power is already at the workstation
- Weight matters – air stations run from 6.6 to 15.4 lb, the EP electric station is 44 lb
- There is no charging routine in place and nobody to manage battery maintenance
- The area is explosion-proof rated and no electricity is wanted at the unit – air only
Whichever power source is chosen, specify the reservoir and check valve arrangement to match the load: porous material leaks continuously and will not hold on stored vacuum alone.
